| Bastion Of Security | | | The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rebuilt India as a “bastion of security” during the past 12-years and has set examples of its resolute commitment to national security for the world to admire. While praising PM Modi led regime for its achievements, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently stated: “Whether it is responding to enemies across border with the firepower of surgical strike, air strike and Operation Sindoor, abrogating Article 370, eradicating Naxalism or fortifying internal security with over 12 accords in the Northeast, India has set examples of its resolute commitment to national security for the world to admire.” The surgical strikes conducted in 2016 and the air strikes in 2019 signaled a departure from previous approaches by demonstrating India’s readiness to target terror infrastructure beyond its borders. These operations conveyed a clear message that acts of terrorism would not go unanswered and reinforced the country’s resolve to protect its sovereignty. The abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019 marked another significant development. The move integrated Jammu and Kashmir more closely with the rest of the country and was presented by the government as a step toward ensuring better governance, development, and security. Equally noteworthy are the efforts made to curb Left-Wing Extremism. Areas once severely affected by Naxal violence have witnessed improvements in security and infrastructure. Through a combination of security operations, development initiatives, and enhanced governance, the government has sought to reduce the influence of extremist groups and bring marginalized regions into the mainstream of national progress. The Northeast offers another example of a comprehensive security approach. Several peace accords signed with insurgent groups have contributed to greater stability in the region. India’s growing stature on the global stage is closely linked to its ability to provide a secure environment for its citizens and institutions. As India aspires to become a developed nation in the coming decades, national security will remain a cornerstone of that journey. The past twelve years have underscored the importance of decisive leadership, institutional capacity, and strategic vision. The challenge ahead is to sustain these gains while ensuring that security and development continue to advance hand in hand, strengthening the foundations of a confident and resilient New India. |
