Early Times Report MANDI GOBINDGARH, June 18: Reinforcing its commitment to preventive healthcare and holistic wellness, the Faculty of Ayurveda at Desh Bhagat University organized an enlightening expert session on "Role of Diet in Healthy Ageing: Ayurveda and Wellness Perspectives." The programme aimed to promote awareness about healthy ageing through the timeless principles of Ayurveda. The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Darshana, Associate Professor, P.G. Department of Kayachikitsa, Faculty of Ayurveda, who greeted the distinguished guest speaker and participants. As a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, the guest speaker was felicitated with a green plant sapling and a commemorative memento, symbolizing the university's commitment to environmental sustainability and respect for meaningful contributions to health and wellness. The keynote session was delivered by Dr. Vibha Bawa of Ojas Fitness Clinic, Panchkula, who shared evidence-informed Ayurvedic principles and practical dietary strategies for promoting healthy ageing. In her insightful lecture, she emphasized the importance of individualized diet (Ahara), maintaining a healthy digestive fire (Agni), adopting seasonal and age-appropriate nutritional practices, and incorporating simple lifestyle modifications to enhance longevity and overall well-being. Dr. Bawa highlighted that balanced nutrition, mindful eating habits, and disciplined daily routines play a crucial role in preserving physical, mental, and emotional health throughout the ageing process. She also underscored the relevance of Ayurveda in addressing modern health challenges through preventive and holistic approaches. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of the Faculty of Ayurveda. The programme was moderated by Dr. Tulika Mehta, CEO, TBI, DBU Group, along with Dr. Darshana, fostering an engaging academic discussion on the significance of Ayurvedic nutrition and preventive healthcare in contemporary society. The event was organized under the visionary guidance of the Hon'ble Dr Zora Singh Chancellor and Dr Tajinder Kaur Pro-Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, Director Campus & Director Ayurveda Dr. Kulbhushan Sharma and Principal, DBACH, Dr. Hemraj, whose continued encouragement to integrate traditional wisdom with modern wellness approaches inspires initiatives that contribute to improved community health outcomes and holistic healthcare education.
