| Ramban police solves major theft case, recovers 5 lakh worth stolen electric wire, six accused arrested | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, June 18: Ramban Police has successfully worked out a major theft case involving the theft of electric wire and recovered around 471 kilograms of stolen property. Six accused persons have been arrested in connection with the case. On the intervening night of 11/12 June 2026, unknown persons stole two drums of electric wire from Kowbagh, Ramban. Upon receipt of information a case was registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation was immediately taken up. During the course of investigation, police teams meticulously analysed digital trail and technical evidences and zeroed a blue coloured three-wheeler auto load carrier covered with a green tarpaulin along with a red coloured scooty with two persons on board. Further hectic efforts led to the identification of the vehicle with registration number JK18A-3726. Verification of records revealed that the vehicle was registered in the name of Irshad Hussain Dar s/o Mohd Akbar Dar a resident of Hovra Yaripora, District Kulgam. Acting swiftly, the Investigating team led by PSI Aftab Ahmed and PSI Irfan Hussain proceeded to Kulgam and, with the assistance of Police Station Qaimoh, traced and seized the involved vehicle parked outside the residence of Irshad Hussain Dar s/o Mohd Akbar Dar r/o Hovra Yari pora Kulgam During his sustained questioning, he admitted his involvement in the transportation of the stolen wire and disclosed his accomplices involved in the crime. During investigation, it surfaced that Sameer Ahmad s/o Abdul Rehman r/o Kowbagh, Ramban, had arranged the sale of the stolen wire and, along with his associates namely Pervaiz Ahmad s/o Farooq Ahmed Sheikh r/o Kowbagh Ramban, Mohd Shakir s/o Ayoub r/o Kowbagh and Imtiyaz Sheikh s/o Abdul Ahmad Shekh r/o Banihal a/p kowbagh Ramban loaded the stolen property into the vehicle. The accused had escorted the vehicle up to the National Highway on a scooty, after which the stolen property was transported towards Srinagar. Based on the disclosure of the accused, police recovered 471 kilograms approximately.of stolen electric wire from the premises of a scrap dealer, namely Zamin Amin s/o Mohd Amin Wani r/o Yaripora kulgam The recovered property was seized as per law and taken into police custody. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized. Subsequently, co-accused Muhid Hassan s/o Gulam Hassan lone r/o Yaripora Kulgam was apprehended and arrested. Further investigation and follow up raids led to the arrest of Sameer Ahmad, Pervaiz Ahmad Mohd Shakir and Imtiaz Ahmed from Kowbagh, Ramban. All legal formalities regarding the arrests were completed and family members of the accused were duly informed. With the arrest of Six accused persons and recovery of the stolen property, the case has been substantially worked out. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of any other persons and to uncover uncovered facts related to the case. The investigation team was guided by DSP HQrs and SHO Ramban Ramban Police remains committed to safeguarding public property and taking strict action against individuals involved in criminal activities. |
