| CM Omar-led Government will complete full term, frustrated BJP to prove wrong: Sadhotra | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 18: National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today asserted that the government led by Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah in Jammu and Kashmir will complete its full five-year term, saying those spreading misinformation and misleading political speculation with an intent to destabilise the popular government would be proven wrong. Addressing a workers meeting at Udhampur which was organised by Sunil Verma District President, Sadhotra said the BJP has unleashed a malicious campaign aimed at creating confusion and uncertainty among the people, but their efforts would fail as the Omar Abdullah-led government enjoys the trust and support of the people. He lashed out at the BJP for attempting to create an atmosphere of political instability out of sheer frustration, saying the party was steadily losing ground due to growing public resentment over its anti-people policies. "The people of Jammu and Kashmir have overwhelmingly reposed faith in the National Conference and its leadership. The mandate was for peace, development, employment and dignity, and the present government is working with commitment and sincerity to fulfil these aspirations," Sadhotra said. He said that the people of Jammu, who had supported the BJP in the 2024 Assembly elections, now feel let down and betrayed as many of the promises made to them remain unfulfilled. "The BJP is trying to divert attention from its failures by indulging in baseless rhetoric and spreading rumours about the stability of the government. The people are fully aware of these tactics and will not be misled," he said. Highlighting the performance of the National Conference government, Sadhotra said the party has a long and credible track record of public service and remains steadfast in implementing the commitments made in its election manifesto. He referred to several welfare and development initiatives undertaken by the government, including the provision of free bus travel for women, which has brought significant relief to thousands of commuters across Jammu and Kashmir. Sadhotra also referred to providing 200 units of free electricity to families living below the poverty line, a measure aimed at easing the financial burden on economically weaker sections. He said that the government has initiated steps to generate employment opportunities and fulfil its commitment of filling up 25,000 jobs for the youth, who are the biggest stakeholders in the future of Jammu and Kashmir. Referring to the decision regarding admissions to higher educational institutions, he said the government's stand against the compulsory CUET requirement has come as a major relief for students and parents, ensuring wider access to education without unnecessary hurdles. Sadhotra said the Omar Abdullah government is pursuing a comprehensive agenda focused on development, economic empowerment and social welfare. He added that efforts are underway to improve infrastructure, strengthen public services, promote entrepreneurship and create opportunities for youth and women. "The NC government is committed to inclusive growth and equitable development across all regions. Its sole focus is on serving the people and addressing their concerns," he said. |
