| Major step under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, J&K police auctions seized vehicles at DPL Reasi | | | Early Times Report REASI, July 7: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and in strict compliance with the provisions of Section 52-A of the NDPS Act, District Police Reasi today conducted a public auction of seized conveyances at the District Police Lines (DPL), Reasi. During the auction proceedings, four (04) vehicles, comprising three four-wheelers and one Bullet motorcycle, seized in different NDPS cases were disposed of after following all prescribed legal formalities. The auction was conducted in a transparent and fair manner in the presence of the Drug Disposal Committee and interested bidders. The auction fetched a total amount of Rs 4,40,500 (Rupees Four Lakh Forty Thousand Five Hundred only), which will be deposited into the Government account in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures. The auction of seized vehicles is one of the several significant measures being undertaken by District Police Reasi to combat drug trafficking. These measures include registration of FIRs against drug offenders, attachment of movable and immovable properties acquired through illicit drug trade, cancellation of driving licences and registration certificates of vehicles used in drug peddling, and detention of habitual drug offenders under the PIT-NDPS Act. The disposal of seized conveyances under Section 52-A of the NDPS Act reflects the firm commitment of District Police Reasi towards effective enforcement of narcotics laws and the timely disposal of case property. Such measures not only prevent the deterioration of seized vehicles but also serve as a strong deterrent against drug trafficking while reinforcing transparency and accountability in the management of property involved in narcotics-related offences. District Police Reasi remains steadfast in its resolve to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and trafficking from the district. Citizens have once again been urged to cooperate with the police by sharing information regarding narcotics and other unlawful activities, thereby contributing towards building a drug-free and safer society. |
