JAMMU, Aug 6: The second day of the Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, at Government Degree College (GDC) Akhnoor witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and the general public going through the photo exhibition on Nasha Mukt Bharat.
During the programme, Dr. Madhu Bala from the Health Department delivered a comprehensive lecture on the medical aspects of drug abuse and highlighted its harmful effects on physical and mental health.
Gurvinder Kaur (KAS), Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), spoke on the social impact of drug abuse and discussed various measures to tackle this growing menace through awareness, counselling, family support and community participation.
The welcome address was delivered by Sh. Vijay Matoo, In-charge CBC Rajouri-Poonch, who emphasised the importance of public awareness campaigns in building a drug-free society.
The programme witnessed active participation of students and staff from Government Degree College Jourian, who joined students of GDC Akhnoor in a seminar and drawing competition organised on the theme of a drug-free society.
A series of cultural programmes, including theme-based songs, added vibrancy to the event. An open quiz competition also generated enthusiastic participation from the audience and helped spread awareness in an interactive manner.
The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony for the participants and resource persons, followed by light refreshments. |
