Jammu, Nov 23: The Jammu and Kashmir government will inquire over the status of the laptops and expensive gadgets which were given to the past legislatures- the cost of which was borne by the public exchequer.
Sources privy to this development told Early Times that the administration is likely to order probe over the reasons behind giving expensive laptops and other gadgets to the legislatures who seldom put them into use.
It was on January 30, 2010 when Omar took a big leap and gifted laptops to all the legislators of the state. Omar at that time had mentioned that the laptops would make the law makers more updated and informed. In addition to these high configuration gadgets, hundreds of broadband internet connections were brought and given away to MLAs and MLCs.
Reports have informed that a high configuration Dell laptop was given to each law maker in Jammu and Kashmir. srinagar, Nov 23: With the debts of the JK Cements Ltd having risen to multi-crore, the government owned subsidiary has been unable to pay salary to its staffers for the past around four months.
While the staffers have been protesting unheard, their demand for release of salary has been pending with the government.
Sources said a top official posted in the JK Cements has been keeping the government in dark about the plight to the cement factory that operates from Khrew area on the outskirts of Srinagar city.
Sources said the official in question has been managing to get his salary drawn but that he is unable to get the salary of staffers released.

Jammu, Nov 23: Separatist turned mainstream politician, People's Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone, who is under detention since August 5 in Srinagar has denied the media reports that he tried contacting anyone within the establishment to seek his release.
