Stone-pelters kill tourist in Srinagar

Early Times Report Srinagar, May 7: A young tourist from Chennai died after a bus carrying tourists was attacked by stone pelters in the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday, in a second incident of its kind in one week, putting a question mark on the state government's repeated assertions that Kashmir is safe for tourists. Police said the bus was on its way to Gulmarg when a mob attacked it with stones at Narbal. The incident took place on Monday morning. The injured tourist R. Thirumani, 22, was moved to a hospital at around 10:30 am with serious injuries on the nose and forehead. He was slipped into a coma and died at around 8:30 pm at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar. A police officer said Thirumani had started vomiting. He said the doctors tried to resuscitate him but he died. He said the police has registered an FIR and launched a hunt to nab the attackers.
