Early Times Report Jammu, June 8: The administration of Government Medical College Hospital Jammu has been unable to develop infrastructure despite liberal funding by the government. Sources told Early Times that the government had sanctioned Rs 17 crore for the renovation of different blocks within the GMC Jammu. “The first installment of Rs 5crore was also released. The GMC had to renovate the administration block, enhance the bed capacity in the wards and get other works done to ensure that patients don’t suffer but till date nothing much has been done as a result second and third installments haven’t have been released,” they added. Sources said that in addition to Rs 17 crore, the government had sanctioned Rs 16 crore to renovate Chopra Nursing Home. “As first installment Rs 5 crore were released to take up the works within the nursing home. Had this facility been renovated it would have helped in accommodating the patient rush during the pandemic,” sources added. Unemployment rate in J&K has increased: NITI Aayog’s SDGs index

Early Times Report Jammu, June 8: NITI Aayog’s latest index of States and Union Territories (UTs) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has revealed that the unemployment rate has increased in Jammu and Kashmir during the last year. As per NITI Aayog’s, index unemployment rate was 5.4 percent in the year 2019 which has increased to 5.6 percent. Although there is a slight increase in the unemployment rate, it reflects those policies adopted by the government after bi-furcating the erstwhile state of J&K into two Union Territories (UTs) have not yet given desirable results. Early Times Report Jammu, June 8: The elite National Investigation Agency or NIA is likely to probe the killing of the Bharatiya Janta Party leader and municipal councilor Tral, Rakesh Pandith by taking over the investigations from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which have registered a case.
