Amarnath tragedy: MHA team to visit Kashmir, review yatra arrangements

Early Times Report Jammu, July 12: In the wake of cloudburst tragedy that left at least 16 pilgrims dead and over forty missing, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led government is sending “a team of officials and subject experts to review the arrangements” for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra in south Kashmir. Sources said the team will visit the trek leading to the save cave shrine from both the Pahalgam and Batal to review the “security standards to prevent any casualties in the wake of bad weather.” Sources said the team will also be accompanied by officials from the High Altitude Warfare School or HAWS on the Indian Army. The HAWS is a defence service training and research establishment of the Indian Army in north Kashmir in 1948 and is specialized in snow–craft and winter warfare. The sources said the team will “audit” the trek and camping sites being used by the pilgrims. Early Times Report Jammu, July 12: In a significant development, the Election Commission of India is likely to soon call a “crucial meeting” on Jammu and Kashmir, to “clear the formalities” for the holding of much-awaited Assembly elections in the Union Territory. The meeting is expected, in less than a month of the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh saying there was a “strong possibility” of starting the electoral process by “the end of this year”. Early Times Report Jammu, July 12: After approval of the Administrative Council (AC) on July 6, the Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday issued an order to enhance ex-gratia relief for the next-of-kin (NoKs) of martyrs of J&K. The General Administration Department (GAD) of J&K government on Tuesday issued an order No.823-JK(GAD) of 2022 dated 12.07.2022 to enhance ex-gratia relief to the NoKs of defence force personnel hailing from J&K, who attain martyrdom either inside or outside Jammu & Kashmir. “Sanction is hereby accorded to the enhancement of ex-gratia relief from Rs. 5.00 lakh to Rs. 25.00 lakh out of UT budget and Rs. 5.00 lakh out of Security Related Expenditure (SRE) in ...

Early Times Report Srinagar, July 12: A Assistant Sub-Inspector was was killed while two others were injured as Militants on tuesday fired upon police Naka at Lal Bazaar area of Srinagar district. A top police officer said that militants attacked police Naka at Lal Bazaar. In this incident one ASI identified as Mushtaq Ahmad was killed while as two others recieved bullet wounds. Early Times Report JAMMU, July 12: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped and arrested Raj Kumar, prism man in office of Naib Tehsildar, Udhampur for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.1, 300. A complaint was received in P/S ACB Udhampur wherein complainant has alleged that five months ago he applied to the Naib Tehsildar Udhampur for issuing SC certificate in his name as well as in the name of his son but the prism man posted as dealing clerk in the office of Naib Tehsildar Udhampur demanded Rs. 10, 000 from the complainant for getting his file cleared of SC certificate. Early Times Report Srinagar, July 12: Apni Party leader and former vice-chairman of JK Cements Er Nazir Ahmed Yatoo on Tuesday requested Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to intervene in the Charar-e-Sharif mosque issue.
