Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 22: In a shocking development, officials have allegedly rejected bills worth around rupees five crores for execution of various public works under the prestigious Prime Minister’s Development Package or PMDP as funded by the central government in Jammu and Kashmir. Official sources said while the bills had been pending for the projects executed by the power development corporations of Jammu and Kashmir in their respective provinces, the rejection of the same has put the project executors to huge financial loses while the contractors have sought personal intervention of the Prime Minister’s office. Official sources said usually such bill should be cleared by the concerned departments in the Civil Secretariat including the Planning and Finance departments within the “stipulated period of around ten days.” “But due to administrative laziness the bills could be cleared in time and as a result of the same, the bills have rejected by default,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. COVID-19: All educational institutes to remain closed in J&K

Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 22: Despite a significant decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir, the administration on Sunday extended the suspension of classwork in all educational institutes -- including schools, colleges, and universities -- till further order in the Union Territory. The administration said that it will consider phased re-opening of institutes where 100 per cent vaccination of staff and students has been achieved.
