Doda: 81-year disabled old man declared dead, name removed from PMAY list

Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 1: An 81-year old disabled man in Doda district has been shown dead to remove his name from the list of beneficiaries of centrally sponsored scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) under which houses are provided to the poor people. Abdul Ghaffar—resident of Ghat block falling under Panchayat Dhara-A in Doda district—had enrolled himself under PMAY but the officials of the Rural Development Department allegedly removed his name from the list of beneficiaries to accommodate some blue eyed people. After Ghaffar’s name was removed and he was declared dead all the hopes about him getting a house under PMAY were dashed. Agencies New Delhi, Sept 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (September 1) released a special commemorative coin of Rs 125 to mark the 125th birth anniversary of the founder of the Hare Krishna movement, Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, through a video conference. Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy was also present on the occasion. Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 1: As there was no major maintenance work on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Wednesday, Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) were allowed to ply from both sides. Meanwhile, the national highway, the only road linking Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir, historic 86-km-long Mughal road and Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar roads are also open for traffic today. A traffic police official said that National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is not carrying out any major maintenance today on the highway, the only road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country. JK reports 110 new Covid cases, one death

Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 1: The Government on Wednesday informed that 110 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 16 from Jammu division and 94 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 325529. Also one Covid death has been reported from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 120 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 29 from Jammu Division and 91 from Kashmir Division.
