Jammu, Sept 7: Former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad who recently quit Congress to float his own party has extended his trip to the winter capital of Jammu in the wake of “overwhelming response from politicians and people something that can benefit his political ambitions.”
Sources close to Azad said he was supposed to stay in Jammu from September 4 till September 6 morning when he was scheduled to leave for visit to his native Doda region.
“In the wake of overwhelming response of the politicians and people who want to have detailed interactions with him (Azad), however, the trip has been extended by at least two days,” said the source.
It was reliably learnt that more leaders from various parties have expressed their willingness to join him and that a media briefing would be held in this regard in the coming days.
The insiders said Azad has been unable to move out of his Jammu residence in the wake of huge influx of visitors. “The meetings start from 9 in the morning and continue till late in the evening.”

Jammu, Sept 7: Former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked his supporters in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir to arrange his public meetings and interactions with prominent citizens in their respective areas.
After holding a series of meetings with his supporters during his stay at Jammu during the last four days, Azad has now decided to aggressively launch the public reach-out programme to completely dismantle Congress in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said that during the last four days, Azad has contacted his old contacts in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir to mobilize support for the party.

Srinagar, Sept 7: Two terrorists were shot dead in a brief gunfight in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.
The police said the militants were killed in a chance encounter in Thajiwara, Bijbehara area of Anantnag.

Jammu, Sept 7: District Magistrate Rajouri has placed under suspension Assistant Commissioner (AC) Panchayat following a complaint alleging hurting of religious sentiments of a community.
The senior Jammu and Kashmir Administrative (JKAS) officer was placed under suspension after one of his subordinates lodged a written complaint against him and charged him with hurting religious sentiments.

Rajasthan, Sept 7: There are no plans to merge engineering entrance exam JEE and medical entrance exam NEET with the Common University Entrance Test, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan said today.
University Grants Commission Chairman Jagadesh Kumar had last month said in future JEE and NEET will be merged with the CUET.
