Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 7: Is BJP going to follow Vajpayee -Musharraf formula on Kashmir …? If the language and expressions in the statement issued on Monday has any credence, the party might be thinking on these lines. The expressions like Pir Panchal range and Chenab Valley which were irritants for BJP until two years back have been used freely and profusely by the party leadership , none other than the state president Sat Sharma .
It was in the meeting held in Srinagar on Monday that BJP state president Sat Sharma that expressions like Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley were used while referring to the Kashmir unrest and attempts to disturb certain areas in Jammu province. "There are some people who don't want peace here and they also tried to disturb Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley areas, by luring the inhabitants, but failed in reaching out to these areas," state president said in the statement, adding, the civil society of Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley out rightly rejected them. Sat Sharma while addressing the Kashmir based party workers contended that certain elements in Kashmir don't want peace and it is these elements who are spreading unrest in these areas in Jammu too.
Sources said while usage of these expressions has created a flutter in the political circles as to whether the party has changed its erstwhile stand on the concept of Greater Kashmir envisaged in Mushraff formula wherein this vocabulary emerged as a substitute to Muslim dominated areas from Rajouri Poonch to Doda, Kishtwar Bhaderwah, within the party it was simply ruled out as mere mistake in producing the statement. The president is aware of the fact these expressions are forbidden for the party as it had opposed tooth nail the formula that would have resulted in division of Jammu province, sources said as majority of people in the party contended.
However, there are some who say this could be also be a possibility of BJP thinking on lines to get a feel or response of what is being talked about possibility of backtrack channels discussing on these lines. Be that as it may look, but observers have it to say that as Kashmir unrest is refusing to die down, BJP's desperation reached this extent of choosing parlance which it opposed while in opposition. Interestingly, the meeting among others was addressed by senior leaders like Ashok Koul and MLC from Kashmir Sofi Yousuf.
