Jammu, Feb 12: : Taking strong note of 'misadventures' from Pakistan, the Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said that Pakistan will pay a heavy price for inflicting thousands bleeding cuts on India.
Talking to media persons at a press conference here at Army's Tiger Division Headquarter the defence minister said that Pakistan will have to pay heavy price for inflicting thousands bleeding cuts on India adding that the militants that carried the terror attack on Sunjwan military garrison had some local support. She said that army and the National Investigating Agency are probing the terror attack.
With two terror strikes on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir in two days, one at Sunjwah and other at Karan Nagar Srinagar, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today declared that Pakistan will "pay" for its role in the attacks that carried out by the militants in state of Jammu and Kashmir.
"I wouldn't certainly state a timeline (for action against Pakistan). But will say this, Pakistan will pay for this misadventure. I repeat, Pakistan will pay for it," she said and added that the Ministry of Defence will stand by the Army. "We have to work together with the Jammu and Kashmir government with regard to dealing with the terror unleashed by the Pakistan in the state of Jammu and Kashmir," she said.
On Saturday, one of the deadliest terror attacks in recent years took place in Sunjwah army camp in Jammu and Kashmir, in which five army personnel and a civilian died while 10 people, including six women and children, were injured. She said that the two terrorist who were killed after a nearly 40-hour long operation are from Jaish-e Mohammad controlled by the handlers from Pakistan by its chief Masood Azhar.
In a scathing attack on Pakistan, the defence minister said the neighbouring state has not taken any action 'despite dossier after dossier given to them" adding that those responsible for Mumbai terror attack are freely roaming in Pakistan. She said that India is preparing water tight case against the Masood Azhar this time as well, but did not reveal the details.
"Even so, India will present evidence in this case, which the home ministry and the foreign ministry currently has. Giving evidence to Pakistan will be a "continuous process" because it has to be "proven again and again"," the Defence Minister said.
In a question on continuous attack by terrorist on families of security personals, the Minister said that it is a cowardly act of the militants who even didn't sphere the women. She said that she did not want to comment on the present situation in Kashmir as well as the local youths picking up the guns and said that defence ministry is working with Ministry of Home Affairs and Minister of External Affairs with regard to same and further said that army is on job to deal with any situation.
In response to a question on registration of an FIR against Major Aditiya, Defence Minister said that Supreme Court had stayed the said FIR and added that she is with forces and assured that she will give a detail reply to court and refuse to divulge the details about the same.
On continuous cease fire violations, she said that additional sensors, UAV's has been deployed on borders to check the infiltration and assure the nation that sacrifices of the security forces will not go in vain. In a question of meeting with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, she said that CM expressed deep anguish and concern over the loss of lives in terror attack.
In another question whether the army suspect the role of any insider behind the Sunjwan terror attack, the Defence Minister was short of words and didn't rule out the possibility of the same and said that same will be looked into. In another question on illegal construction outside army installation and airports, the Defence Minister said that this phenomena is everywhere and J&K is not an isolated issue.
Sitharaman said that the Sunjwah operation against the terrorist has been called off after 53 hours adding that the sensitization operation will remain continue. She the terrorists had chosen to attack a military station which housed both troops and families of Indian army, the cantonment which is located 30 KM from International Border.
She said that as soon as the terror attack took place, the Quick Reaction Teams responded quickly and isolated the militants adding that three of the terrorist were killed in the said terror attack. Initially we had inputs of four terrorists, but later it was found that the fourth one was a guide and had not enter inside.
She said that during 53 hour long operation, 26 blocks with 189 flats were cleared with six fatal causalities. Meanwhile, earlier the government today said that six persons including five soldiers and a civilian have been killed while eleven have been injured in the Sunjwah Fidayeen attack.
While making a statement in the JK Assembly regarding the incident, the Minister for Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, A R Veeri said that on February 10, militants carried out a Fidayeen attack by opening indiscriminate fire and lobbed grenades inside the camp of 36 Brigade 1st JAKLI situated in Sunjwah Jammu.
