| GoI releases salaries, HUDD fails to distribute | | 14 experts engaged under PMAY left high and dry | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 12: Despite release of funds by Union Government for salaries of employees engaged under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Housing for All) the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD) has no immediate plans to pay its employees.
Sources informed Early Times that HUDD had engaged 14 experts of City Level Technical Cell under various designations in PMAY scheme executed by Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD) under a flagship programme 'Housing for All' but the salaries of all 14 experts were pending for the last 11 months.
"Two years back the scheme was launched in state but the government still fails to establish a separate mission directorate like other central scheme due to which the scheme was not functioning smoothly. Some employee's salaries released from civil secretariat and some from Housing Board", sources said, adding that though, the scheme is being implemented in all the 78 towns and both capital cities of the state in two phases.
The Commissioner Secretary of the department concern is still In-charge Mission Director constituted state level technical Cell and City Level technical cells and appointed several dozens of employees for carrying out various activities including preparation of Detail Project Report (DPR) of all towns and cities.
Sources further said that in absence of separate mission directorate the government put all the burden of work on the HUDD causing the scheme has been functioning at snail's pace. One can easily gauged, the condition of these employees who have been without salary in present days. They have no other option to take money from relatives or elder family members to run our own families. Some of the employees visited the department regarding their pending salaries but their repeated pleas fall on deaf ears of the administration and give excuse that Central government has not been releasing funds due to which salaries are not released.
When contacted Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board Finance Officer, Pritpal Singh accepted the lapse and said that government of India released two month salary last month. After checking their attendance and progress report, the salary will; be released. On being asked about others nine month pending salary, the officer said that the department has already taken up the matter with Central government. |
