6/11/2018 11:02:23 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri, June 11: Central as well as the state intelligence agencies have once again failed to bust nexus between militant commander operating in Kashmir and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) operating in Rajouri district as two HM militants today struck at police guard room at Shahdra and decamped with INSAS rifle, magazines and live rounds.
On May 12 three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) including ex-militants from Shopian, Azaz Ahmed (ex-HuM militant) , Sajjad Malla and Khurshid Thokar were in Rajouri town to collect Hawala money from Mohd Arif r/o Rajouri district and all were arrested.
Sources said 22 years Mukhtar Ahmed s/o Abdul Ahad Dar r/o new colony, Safanagri and Aijaz Ahmed Paaray s/o Sanaullah Parray r/o Keshva Chitragama both in Shopian town in Kashmir came to Shrine at Shahadra on Sunday and had spent the night in the hall situated near the police guard room of Shahdra police post after hiring bed for Rs20 vide receipt No 83028 dt 10/6/18.
In the wee hours when the cops left the guard room for morning prayers after locking their official weapons in a box, both the militants entered the guard room , picked up the box and reportedly after breaking it in the adjoining nullah left Shahdra town on motorcycle for Shopian in Kashmir.
"On finding one INSAS rifle missing, the alarm was raised and police post in-charge informed the senior officers including Iftikar Ahmed, SDPO and SHO Thanamndi. As already routine wee hour 'police naka' was established near Thanamandi town, the duo was directed to stop for frisking" said sources.
"As the militants didn't stop motorcycle and crossed the naka in full speed, both were chased. After some distance the duo stopped the motorcycle and while trying to hide themselves taking advantages of darkness, they fired few rounds on the security force personnel " said SSP Yougal Manhas.
After taking possible security measures, security personnel over powered both the militants without any injury, said SSP and added police on frisking also recovered the stolen weapon and ammunition along with two fired cartilages.
He added as per initial questioning the duo had earlier also visited Shahdra and when they couldn't snatch weapon, as weapon snatchings cases are at rise in the valley, they might have planned to struck in this way.
He further said both were in constant touch with Zeenat-ul-Islam, Soth Kashmir HM commander and were operating on his directions.
The motor cycle used by the militants was bearing Punjab Number and it could also be a stolen vehicle.
"Why all the cops left the station for offering morning prayers, is also a matter of investigation and the cop whose gun was stolen was sent to police lines for further investigation" said SSP.
The duo has been booked under sections 307,120-B RPC and 7/27 Indian Arm Act & 17/21/11/13 ULA Act.
