Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, June 11: With the assembly elections just a couple of years away the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders are issuing statements urging the separatists to enter into in a dialogue with the Government of India.
Some of these leaders are stating that separatists would repent once the 'opportunity' of entering into dialogue is wasted by them.
With the Kashmir valley especially the South Kashmir on boil for the past couple of years the PDP leaders want the separatists to start dialogue with New Delhi so that they sell the same on the eve of 2020 Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections. As on date the PDP has received a serious dent with people no more believing the party. "The people of South Kashmir were looking upon the PDP as the only party that could provide them some relief from the daily troubles. However, as the fame faded and the party failed to live up to the expectations of masses people of South Kashmir got virtually disillusioned with the PDP," said sources.
Sources said that PDP's failure to solve the peoples' problems gave a perfect opportunity to the people as a whole more so the militant and separatist outfits to exploit the whole situation. In the present day scenario the PDP is bereft of any agenda and it is due to this reason that the party wants the separatist leaders to hold talks with the Government of India. Even if a middle rung separatist leader says yes to talks that would be enough for the PDP leaders to score brownie points over the other parties," said sources.
They said that since the PDP leaders swear by Agenda of Alliance stitched with Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) they want the dialogue clause in the same to be filled in by the separatists even if small leaders. It was due to this reason that one of PDP leaders today said that there is no need for any formal invitation to the separatists since Home Minister Rajnath Singh has already said that Government of India is ready to talk to anybody in the state.
"Agenda less PDP wants separatists to enter into a dialogue with New Delhi so that there is some face saving for them," said sources.
