PDP, NC hurting national interests
6/11/2018 11:05:42 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 11: The two regional parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have different takes over the dialogue offer put forth by New Delhi.
The ruling PDP is leaving no stone unturned to persuade the separatists to join the talks process and catch the bus, while as the opposition National Conference has advised the separatists to stay away from the parleys. "The ruling party's desperation is a natural reaction. The PDP knows if the separatists come forward for the talks it can project it as its victory and can make it as a poll-plank for the next elections. On the other hand NC wants separatists to stay away so that it can corner the ruling party, and take it head on when elections are held," said an analyst.
He said, "Both the parties are working against the national interests by giving legitimacy to separatists. They are creating a notion that separatists are the ones who are running the Valley and without them nothing can happen."
A Kashmir watcher said, "Giving undue importance to separatists means that we are acknowledging those people who advocate sedition and dance to the tunes of Pakistan."
He said, "Someone should ask these parties what should GoI discuss with these separatists who advocate merger of Kashmir with Pakistan and are demanding Azadi."
The Kashmir watcher said that both NC and PDP are playing politics over talks offer for their electoral gains. "Both the parties are trying to appease the separatists and the people sitting across the Line of Control and are projecting them as real players," he added.
A defence analyst said, "Earlier PDP persuaded Centre to give amnesty to stone-pelters as a result of which they are back on the streets of Kashmir. Then it raised ceasefire bogey which allowed the terrorists to regroup. Now it wants GoI to hold unconditional talks with the Pakistan stooges."
He said, "People sitting in New Delhi should realize that this appeasement policy can prove very dangerous and it would encourage the anti-national elements to intensify their activities. Both NC and PDP should bear in mind that they represent the mainstream and not the separatists. These parties should focus on the issues which touch the skin of a common man. They need not acts as spokespersons of the Pakistani stooges, whose only aim is to disintegrate the country."
A politician said, "PDP should stop begging separatists to hold the talks, while NC should stop giving sermons and free advises. By doing so both these parties have put a question mark over the entire system."
