| Lal Singh convenes Public grievance camp, listens to people’s problems | | | KATHUA: To listen to the grievances of the public, Member Parliament Doda-Udhampur constituency Ch. Lal Singh convened a public, grievances camp here today.
The representatives from various Tehsils of Kathua projected their demands and grievances regarding road connectivity, safe drinking water, electricity, old age pension, widow pension and scholarships.
MP gave a patient hearing and assured early redressal of their problems and demands.
Addressing the gathering, MP said government headed by Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh is committed to the progress and development of the country especially rural areas. He added that UPA government at the centre is coming up with Food Security Bill to ensure ration to every citizen. He said that government is committed to raise the socioeconomic status of the rural people and to provide them with all the basic amenities along with developmental infrastructure.
Mr. Lal Singh said Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Youjna(PMGSY) is meant to connect far off and isolated villages with tehsil and District headquarters to ensure faster development. He said under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship programme of central government aiming at total sanitation programme has been designed to provide toilet in every household.
He appealed the youth to refrain from the drug menace and contribute in the nation building. Ch Lal Singh appealed the Panchs and Sarpanchs to work honestly for the development and progress of their respective areas. He also appealed the unemployed youth to take the benefit of the various state and centrally sponsored schemes to establish their own income generating units.
