Nigel Evans says reiki massage caused head bruise | | | London: Nigel Evans, the deputy speaker of the House of Commons who is facing allegations of rape and sexual assault, has revealed the cause of a mysterious mark on his forehead. The 55-year-old MP said the "painful" bruise appeared on Thursday – the day before his arrest – as he came to the end of a reiki massage in London's Chinatown. "I was suffering from a migraine and happened to be passing a place for Chinese alternative medicine. They were advertising reiki massages and I thought 'Why not? It might help.' "I had a massage of my head and shoulders to relieve the stress that had caused the migraine, and as the chap came to finish he seems to have dug his fingers into my forehead." The blue-tinged bruise was still visible on Monday as he emerged from his weekend "sanctuary" in the village of Bolton-by-Bowland, near Clitheroe, Lancashire. On Sunday the MP was sufficiently concerned by the bruise that a television reporter was asked to try to disguise it with makeup. Evans owns a two-bedroom cottage beside a pub in Pendleton, near Clitheroe. But he and a group of friends spent the two nights after his arrest eight miles away at the secluded home of Vicky Entwistle, a former Coronation Street actor. Entwistle, a long-time friend, who helped the MP make the decision three years ago to announce that he was gay, is currently performing in Les Miserables in London. |
