Early Times Report

Rajouri, Aug 14: After Early Times reported that some students of B.Tech have decided to hoist the National Flag first time on the campus of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, district administration has instructed the university authorities to celebrate the day officially.
As per BGSBU communication, in an emergency meeting which was held in the office of the Registrar after communication from SSP office and was attended by the heads of the departments, it was decided that the National Flag will be hoisted by the Registrar in front of Vice Chancellor (VC) Office as VC is out of station.
As the authorities at BGSBU have never celebrated I-Day and R-Day since its establishment in 2003, some students of B.Tech supported by the ABVP had decided to hoist the National Flag this year.
They approached the BGSBU authorities for the permission and they also approached the police to provide security on this occasion as majority of the students belong to Kashmir Valley and they organise black days on these days.
Reliable sources said that to avoid any clash or untoward incident BGSBU authorities don't celebrate these days.
But students and their supporters and many prominent citizens of Rajouri city and its adjoining areas are of the views that the University is funded by the UGC and the institutions should celebrate the National Days.
The matter was highlighted by the Early Times and Jatinder Singh , Deputy Commissioner has also said that any body can celebrate independence day at any place subject to honor to the Nation Flag.
But the Registrar refused the permission on the pretext that VC is the final authority to give permission and he is not present in the university.
Student again approached the Registrar today but he didn't respond, as told by Nishant Verma student leader, and they approached the Deputy Commissioner who suggested them to celebrate the I-Day but the flag will be hoisted by the head of the institution.
Meanwhile Rajouri units of Bajrang Dal and VHP today organised a press conference under the leadership of Sat Pal , Yughvir Gupta and Karan Thakur and said that on Friday their activists and some prominent citizens would visit the BGSBU and join the students.
To avoid any possible law and order problem SSP, as informed by Deputy Commissioner, talked to Registrar and advised him to organise I-Day celebrations.
Late in the evening in an emergency meeting of the head of the departments was held in the chamber of Mohd Rashid Choudhry Registrar and it was decided that officials Flag hoisting will be held before the office of VC at 9 am.
