One held in alleged abduction and rape case

RAJOURI, Aug 14: Police claimed to have arrested one alleged rapist following the complaint from a woman alleging her co-villager took her to an abandoned place on Wednesday and repeatedly raped her till she fell unconscious.
According to police, the complainant (name withheld) in her complaint lodged with police alleged that one Azam Hiussain of village Chabba of Rajouri city, that accused offered his willingness to accompany the victim to visit a person in nearby village to whom some money has been sent by her husband presently in Saudi Arab. Quoting victim, police said, "After covering some distance by foot when they were passing through an isolated and abandoned place, the accused overpowered her and committed rape repeatedly till she fell unconscious and he escaped from the spot.
"However on gaining her consciousness, the victim returned to her home and narrated the incident to the relatives and family members, police said and adding, "the victim alongwith her relatives approached Rajouri Police and lodged a complaint against the accused,
Police registered a case u/s 376 while got the medical examination of victim conducted at nearby hospital. Meantime Police acting swiftly arrested the accused from the house of one of his relatives today.
After legal formalities the accused will be produced before the court for police remand, police said

Petition challenging cancellation of 283 kanals land allotted to Asa Ram Trust

JAMMU, Aug 14: In a petition filed by Mohan Lal Managing Trustee of Shree Yog Vedhant Sewa Samiti (Sant Shri Bapu Asaram Ashram) Trust challenging the order issued by VC JDA whereby letter of intent for allotment of land measuring 283 Kanals land situated at Bhagwatu Nagar has been sought to be withdrawn and the lease deed is sought to cancelled, seeking quashment order dated August 6, 2014, Justice Janak Raj Kotwal of J&K High Court Jammu Wing after hearing Sr. Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Veenu Gupta appearing petitioner-Trust issued notice to Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Dept J&K, VC JDA and Secretary JDA, Advocate Adarsh Sharma who is on caveat for the JDA accepted the notices on behalf of JDA and directed registry to issue notice to Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Dept J&K and in the meantime subject to objections and till next date before the Bench, Court directed that status-quo vis-à-vis the subject land shall be maintained. -JNF
