Kichloo hails role of Army, locals, NDRF, IAF, Police, NGOs in rescue operations

Srinagar, Sept 14 : Minister of State for Home, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today hailed the efforts of Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), National Disaster Response Force ( NDRF), Police, locals and NGOs for their continuous active part in rescue and relief operations going on at war footing base in flood affected areas of the Srinagar and its adjoining areas.
Home minister also conducted the boat survey of various areas in Batwara, Lal Chowk, Rajbagh, Shivpura, Indra Nagar, Bemena and other worst flood affected areas along with local army commander Major General Arjun Das.
While talking to "Early Times", Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said, "Omar Abdullah led coalition government is making all its efforts by using all its available resources for saving the lives of people, adding that army, security forces, locals and NGOs played a pivotal role in saving the lives of thousands of people including foreigners, tourists, locals and people of other parts of the state like Doda, Kishtwar, Jammu, Udhampur and adjoining Districts of Srinagar. He further said that the nature furry has taken heavy toll on Public as well as government property, beside claims the lives of several people.
"I regret the loss of innocent human lives in this national disaster and extended my heartfelt condolence to the family members who lost their lives in flesh floods throughout the state of Jammu and Kashmir" ,Kichloo said and added that in addition to the rescue operation, the thrust was laid on restoration of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway so that the supply of essential commodities could be restored. He said that the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar National Highway was fully restored upto Anantnag District, while partially upto Srinagar, added that few trucks loaded with essential commodities has been diverted on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar National Highway and some among them are expected to reach Srinagar any time.
He said that electricity supply is being restored in phased manner. He said that many parts of the Srinagar are still in between 8 to 10 feet of water and said that lot of efforts will be required for restoration of normalcy as the flood disaster is beyond the expectation and imagination of common person.
He said that after massive disaster, the Jammu region particularly Rajouri and Poonch districts has started returning back to normalcy. He also hailed the role of union government and Prime Minister Narindra Modi for extending their support to the state government and hope that union government will continue its support to the state government in this need of hour.
