Market checking squad realizes Rs 3800 fine from erring traders

Kishtwar, Jan 24: The Enforcement squad headed by Assistant Director, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Kishtwar Nazir Ahmed Shah to conducted market inspection in various parts of Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas and booked 20 erring traders for violating Essential Commodities Act, beside collect the fine of Rs. 3800.
The team comprises of Naib Tehsildar Kishtwar Mehraj Din, Food Safety Officer Kishtwar Ranjana Devi and officials of Municipal Committee Kishtwar inspected main markets including Shaheedi Road, Bus Stand, Hospital chowk and other areas and fine the shopkeepers for not displaying the rate list. Few shopkeepers were also fined for encroaching the foot path. The non licence holders were also fined and are directed to register their bussiness establishment under municipal act as well as under cooperative society act with immidiate affect.
Meanwhile the shopkeepers flaws for continued checking of perticular areas and are harrassing them. They said that the main market from DC office Kishtwar to Bus stand Kishtwar are the soft targets of the market checking squad, added that the squad fail to visit interior parts of the Kishtwar town. Many people also complained about selling of essentialties under wait and demanded proper checking of waiting equipments.
Meanwhile the sale of ban tobacco item glore in Kishtwar District and same is going on even outside educational institutions unchecked. Besidebanned tobacco items, sale of cigarettes outside educational institutions and to children below 18 years is also going on unchecked.
Reacting to the " Early times" question, Food Safety Officer Kishtwar while ducking the question said that the department is only authorized to challan such shopkeepers selling the banned tobacco items, added that other then challaning the violators, the department can do nothing. She also refuse to initiate any action against these violators in addition to challan.
