 JAMMU, Feb 14: Department of State Mission Directorate, ICDS organized a programme on "Beti Bacho Beti Padhao" here today. The programme was inaugurated by Mission Director, ICDS Dr. G.N.Itoo. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Itoo said that 25 awareness camps have been organized by the Mission Directorate so far and plan to organize another 50 programmes on similar lines in various areas of the State. Such programmes aim to increase awareness among the people about the gender inequality and decreasing child sex ratio, he added. He said that there is urgent need to educate the people to create girl child friendly atmosphere in the State. Others, who spoke on the occasion, included Programme Officer, ICDS Jammu, Kanta Devi, CDPO, Satwari, Mushtaq Ahmad, and prominent people of the area. Artistes from Song and Drama Division, Jammu Centre also participated in the programme and threw light on the theme "Beti Bacho Beti Padhao". |
