Rajouri, Feb 23 : Police today claimed to have solved the blind murder of 12-year-old Mohammad Rouf of Larkuti, Kotranka, and arrested a minor who allegedly committed the crime in a fit of anger. SSP, Rajouri, Haseeb Mughal said that on Saturday Rouf's father Mohammad Iqbal approached Kotranka police station and lodged the missing report of his son. Soon thereafter, SHO Tejinder Singh to Larkuti. With the help of family members, police searched the village forest where Rouf had gone to graze cattle and also enquired from his relatives but the boy was not traced, the SSP said. He said police again launched searches in the forests on Sunday and recovered the body of the boy in a pool of blood. It was hidden beneath the boulders and bushes, he informed. The body, which had cuts on the head and other body parts, was then brought to hospital at Kotrnaka and after legal formalities, it was handed over to the family members for last rites. Police have registered a murder case under section 302 of RPC and started investigation. During investigation, it was established that Rouf had gone to the forest along with his friends, the SSP said. Police then rounded up some suspects including three minors from the village, he added. During questioning, Imtiaz Ahmed (15), son of Wali Mohammad allegedly confessed the crime. Mughal said on his disclosure, police recovered the axe used in the crime. He said the accused told police that he had a scuffle with Rouf over some issue while grazing the cattle and in a fit of anger, he attacked him with his axe, resulting in his instant death. After allegedly covering the body with boulders and tree branches , Imtiaz returned to home. The accused was booked under a murder case. |
