Div Com takes stock of Jammu hospitals

Jammu, Feb 23: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu, along with Director, Health Services Jammu Dr. B.S. Pathania, and Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Kalyan Singh visited SMGS Hospital and other peripheral hospitals of the district to take stock of preparedness of the hospitals to deal with swine flu OPD, Diagnosis and treatment. He also visited Government Medical College, Jammu along with Commissioner Secretary Health & Medical Education, Gazanfar Hussain. At Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu the Divisional Commissioner took round of the OPD block, flu isolation ward and took stock of the preparedness wherein he was informed that the dedicated OPD has been established for flu suspects who after check up if suspected are kept in isolation ward where from they are sent to the Government Medical College Jammu for taking swab samples for clinical analysis and if confirmed they are being referred to Chopra Nursing Home for further treatment. He was apprised that dedicated OPD along with isolation ward for flue suspects has been established from today. Then the whole team visited SMGS Hospital OPD blocks and take stock of the preparedness there also.
Later, the team visited Govt. Medical College and took stock of the preparedness besides having a round of Chopra Nursing Home which has been designated as Flue OPD/Treatment Centre.
He was informed that till now 37 swab samples of the suspects were sent for clinical analysis to Delhi out of which 16 reports have been received with 5 testing positive and 11 negative. Those with negative reports are being shifted to General wards of GMC and those with positive are being treated in the Chopra Nursing Home itself.
The issue of shortage of medicines and masks was raised by Principal GMC Jammu and the Commissioner Secretary, Health who was present assured that the required medicines for treatment and masks shall be provided immediately as they have already been procured and are about to be delivered.
