Jammu, Feb 23: A gang rape victim has levelled serious allegations against police for shielding the accused by not securing their arrest.
Addressing a press conference here today, the victim, a resident of Dangra, R S Pura,alleged that she was gang raped by four persons namely Sarbandu , Rajan, Bushan and Goldy, all are her next door neighbours and accordingly, R S Pura police was informed.
The incident took place in November 2014, but instead of taking legal action and putting the accused behind the bars, police shielded them, she alleged.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer when contacted, refuting allegations said that earlier, the woman lodged complaint of beating her and accordingly FIR in this connection was lodged but later she told police that she was allegedly raped, adding, though FIR in this connection had been lodged, the case was subjudice.Mean while SSP Jammu Uttam Chand when contacted said that SDPO RS Pura has been directed to look into the case.
