Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 2: The Indian Institute of Integrated Medicines (IIIM) today qualified for the final of the men's badminton team event on the inaugural day of the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) sports meet got underway here. In the semifinal, played this afternoon, IIIM defeated the combined side of National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) 2-0. The results: Anil bt Vikas 2-0; Rajesh bt Mahesh 2-0. Earlier, in the first round of quarterfinals, IIIM trounced Central Water Commission (CWC) 2-0. The Results: Anil bt Naveen 2-0; Rajesh bt Ankush Sharma 2-0. In another quarterfinal, Account General (AG) Office defeated Survey of India (SOI) 2-1. The Results: Shashi Jamwal bt Abhishek 2-1 (21-07, 16-21, 22-20); Vibhore lost to Desh Kumar 2-0 (16-21, 15-21). Doubles: Abhishek and Vibhore bt Sanjeev and Shashi Jamwal 2-0 (21-16, 21-14). In all, six teams are taking part in this two-day competition. Earlier, the meet was declared open by chairman of sports committee of CGEWCC, BS Bhan. The competition is being held under the supervision of team comprising Ashok Chadha, Mahesh Sharma and Sanjeev Kumar. "The second day of the badminton meet shall witness final of team event and competition in the men's doubles event at the indoor hall of IIIM school," informed organising committee member, S K Chadha. |
