Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 2: Amid heavy snowfall in Kashmir Valley, PDD officials are trying their best to restore electricity as soon as possible. People here were seen up in arms against the erratic power supply that was accorded to them amidst the intense cold conditions.
Accusing the PDD of deliberately pushing the people to wall, locals of various areas of Srinagar said that the power supplies were snapped in various areas without any reason and that no one is there to listen to their woes.
On Monday, when the thick blanket of snow covered entire Kashmir valley including the summer capital Srinagar, PDD since morning snatched power supplies in various areas with the concerned officials seen absconding from duties.
Residents of scores of Srinagar areas told Early times that the biting cold conditions have been intensified due to the disappointing performance exhibited by the power department at the time of great crises. They said that the erratic supply of the power has made them to shiver and suffer in absence of any adequate measures taken by the state administration.
Appealing the new dispensation to take immediate measures in rectifying the power woes in Kashmir valley, people said that the NC regime only multiplied peoples' woes instead of mitigating them.
They added in the metered areas as well, the power supply remained choked for the entire day and that despite repeated pleas; no heed was given to them.
Meanwhile, the chief engineer PDD Bashir Ahmad Khan when contacted said that the intense snowfall in Kashmir valley has damaged various transmission lines and that the department is busy in restoring the power supplies. "There has been some damage due to the fall of trees in some areas. Almost all supplies have been restored except the line in Sonawar. I can tell you that within 24 hours, the rest of the supplies will be restored. However in far flung areas some more time would be required," Khan said.
