Jammu, Mar 3: Assistant Professor in the Division of Biochemistry & Plant Physiology, SKUAST-Jammu Dr. Vikas Sharma has been conferred with 'Bharat Jyoti Award' for his meritorious services and outstanding performance in the field of natural products.
As per press release, the award was presented to him recently during the seminar organized on National Integration at New Delhi. Dr. Vikas Sharma is doing research on the anticancer potential of medicinal plants from Jammu region. He has screened more than thirty local medicinal plants for their anticarcinogenic properties of which desi karela, pudina, adrak, safed aak, kari patta, desi amla were found more effective against human cancer cells originated from different tissues. He has 8 years experience of teaching and research. He has 65 research publications to his credit including two books. |
