Balgran to revise criteria for admission

Jammu, Mar 20: Governing Body of Balgran -A Charitable Home for Destitute Children, Channi Rama, Jammu today eased admission norms for deserving children and decided to revise existing criteria for admission of destitute/ orphan/ natural calamities and Militancy affected children from neglected section of Society.
Balgran at present has infra- structure to admit thirty more children in the current session. It Provides free boarding and lodging besides education also has health care centre, a vocational and computer training centre also undertakes extra-curricular activities and in Culture and Sport s for inmates. BALGRAN gets donations from common masses besides there are donors who donate for the lunch, breakfast of inmates. Some of the donors take the responsibility of a child by providing for his/her education, breakfast/lunch.
In a meeting of the body that was held under the chairmanship of President and was also attended and deliberated by ex-officio representatives from various government departments, besides patrons of Balgran, it was decided that the home has infrastructure and intake capacity for one hundred children and at present there are only seventy inmates and the deserving and terrorism effected and orphans are getting it difficult to get admission because of cumbersome norms. It was also said that Balgaran can accommodate School Going Children in the age group of 5 to 9 years and for the admission, age proof is to be submitted like School leaving certificate, certificate from Municipal authorities or from respective Police authorities . The meeting also decided to give age relaxation to deserving and exceptional who fulfill the prerequisites to a maximum of one year. The Income of the guardian or the family should not exceed rupees five thousand per month and a certificate in this regard has to be obtained from revenue authorities not below the rank of Naib- Tesildar or should be duly endorsed any certified by any member of Governing Body of BALGRAN Channi-Himmat, Jammu or by Sarpanch of the respective village the candidate belongs to. Head of family or guardian of the child should furnish affidavit duly attested at least by Notary. Balgran appeals masses to donate for the welfare of the orphans, destitute and victims of calamity and victims of terrorism.
