Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20: Jammu and Kashmir Congress today accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of an "inconsistent" defence policy, saying that it has led to increase in the terrorist attacks in the state. "The abrupt rise in terrorist attacks in the state is the result of inconsistent defence policy of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre," newly-appointed Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir told reporters here.
"The present government, in spite of making tall claims, has failed to deter terrorist attacks from across the border. The present establishment must adopt a constructive, coherent and consistent policy for dealing with Pakistan," Mir said.
Mir was speaking to the reporters after paying a visit to the Government Medical College and hospital in Jammu where he enquired about the wellbeing of the police personnel injured in today's militant attack on a police station in Kathua.
Mir, who was accompanied by several other Congress leaders, enquired about the health of personnel's injured in the attack. He urged the doctors to extend best medical care to the injured police personnel and prayed for their early recovery. "We strongly condemn the terrorist attack on police station Raj Bagh, Kathua, today morning which resulted into loss of precious lives and injuries to...People," he told reporters outside the hospital. He said that such inhuman acts on the part of neighboring country not only derails the peace process but affects the normal lives of those who have nothing to do with these issue.
