J-K Light Infantry inducts 183 youths as soldiers

Srinagar, Mar 27 : More than 180 local youths were today inducted as soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry of the Army at a passing out parade held at Regimental Centre here. With crisp movements and singing their regimental song, the rigorously trained 183 recruits, hailing from different parts of the state, took an oath to serve the cause of the nation at the ceremony with a march past held at Rangreth headquarters, 10 km from here. Commandant Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) Regimental Centre, Brig Pankaj Sinha, reviewed the passing out parade (PoP) and Attestation Ceremony. He congratulated the parents of the soldiers of having "dedicated their sons" towards protecting their motherland and choosing the noble profession of soldiering. "To support the youth to carve a niche for themselves, Army is continuing to provide opportunity to youth for employment in armed forces and even organising pre-recruitment training at numerous places across Valley," he said, adding large number of youths have benefited from these efforts.
On the occasion, Naib Subedar Nadeem Iqbal was also felicitated as he made the country, Army, and JAKLI proud by being the only Olympian from Jammu and Kashmir.
Iqbal represented the country in the Winter Olympics 2014 held at Sochi in Russia.
Apart from him, the Regiment has also produced other sportsmen of International acclaim like Naib Subedar Chain Singh who won Bronze medal at Asian Games 2014 in Korea and Hav Rafiq Ahmed Malik, who is first Everester from the state.
These soldiers continue to serve as an inspiration to more and more talented youth to join the armed forces and contribute in bringing glory to the nation, state, and the Indian Army, the officer said.
