JAMMU, May 2: What is it that is happening in Kashmir? Every good move of the government is being opposed in Kashmir by perverted elements and Pakistani agents. One day they oppose the Kashmiri Pandit resettlement in the Valley. On another day, they oppose Amarnath yatra. Yet on another day, they oppose the Indian army, the Indian laws, the Indian institutions and what not. And on Friday, two fanatics and Pakistani agents - Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq - opposed the decision to issue of Permanent Resident certificates (PRCs) in schools. Geelani opposed the decision in Tral rally, where pro-Pakistan slogans were raised and Pakistani flags hoisted. And Mirwaiz opposed the decision in Srinagar while addressing a religious congregation at Jamia Masjid.
Addressing anti-India rally at Tral, Geelani said that handing out PRCs at school level was a conspiracy to settle West Pakistan refugees through the back door. "We will oppose it tooth and nail," he said. He also accused Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of facilitating anti-Muslim agenda of RSS in Jammu and Kashmir. And addressing the religious congregation at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Mirwaiz also spoke the same language. "It is a link to previous attempts by the government to settle WPRs in the State. They are now adopting new means by issuing State Subject certificates in schools to provide permanent citizenship to these refugees," he said.
Geelani and Mirwaiz have gone mad. It appears. They have lost their balance of mind. It also seems. They cannot understand even simple things. This is very clear. The decision to issue PRCs in schools is applicable to the entire state, including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. It nowhere says that the PRCs will be issued to the wards of the West Pakistan refugees in schools. It is simple administrative decision. The revenue department and the state government must stick to the decision. Geelani, Mirwaiz and similar other perverted elements cannot be allowed to dictate terms. The need of the time is not only to implement the decision in letter and spirit but also to grant citizenship rights to the West Pakistan refugees. |
