Rajouri city protests for potable water

Rajouri, May 3 : Inhabitants of ward No 3 (Bela Colony) situated in the heart of Rajouri city held a protest demonstration against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department officials alleging that the water supply has been suspended for the last few days .Protesters led by Mushtaq Mohammad and Nazir Ahmed alleged that the department has failed to rectify the fault that has hampered supply to their ward and people are forced to drink contaminated water collected either from nearby river or natural water sources." It was not an isolated case of suspension of water supply to our ward.
The inhabitants facing this problem for the last few years and the PHE officials have failed to rectify it permanently" said Mushtaq. Protesters warned the PHE officials a large scale protest including closing of main Abdullha Bridge in the heart of city if the supply of safe drinking water was restored on or before Monday. Protesters alleged step mother treatment with the inhabitants of this colony and warned the PHE officials to mend their ways otherwise people will be forced to start a big protest against them and responsibility for any untoward incident would be of the concerned officials.Inhabitants of Rajouri city including Rajesh Gupta, Mohd Mushtaq , Yogesh Sharma etc have alleged that most of the PHE's main water supply pipes either or broken or leaked at many places resulting in wastage of thousand of liters of drinking water.
This has been creating scarcity of drinking water in the mian city and the concerned officials seems to in deep slumber instead saving water going to drains without any public use.
Meanwhile inhabitants of Pukhrani Nmbla in Nowshera tehsil have also expressed their resentment against the casual approach of PHE officials.They alleged that their area is without safe drinking water supply for the last 3-4 days as the PHE officials have failed to repair the broken pipes at several places resulting in wastage of water on way to their area.
Inhabitants of Chainpur, Chakli, Danga etc situated in the vicinity of Kalakot town criticized the PHE for their casual approach in giving supply of pure and safe drinking water in their areas.People alleged the area is getting water supply after 3 days and that too for few minutes and the people especially women finding very difficult to collect drinking water from natural sources after covering a distance between 1-3 kilometers during peak summer hours.
