Bhadwal hails tax exemption for Amarnath yatra langar parties

JAMMU, June 21: Expressing gratitude to the state government for waiving of toll tax and sales tax at Lakhanpur on items being utilized for setting up Langars for the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra, the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) leader Vikram Singh Bhadwal said that such an exemption is a positive step aimed at benefiting those devotees who offer free of cost food, packaged drinking water and other eatables to the pilgrims. Bhadwal had special word of thanks for Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu on relaxing Shardalus for declaring that there will be no toll as well as sales tax at Lakhanpur toll post. He further said that it was positive approach of Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and coalition partner BJP that the government decided not to charge any tax from the vehicles of Lanagar parties carrying material used in Langers arranged for devotees at different places from Lakhanpur to Amarnath cave shrine.
