SCC holds protest, demands carry-on system for under graduate students

Jammu, July 30: Students of various colleges held a massive protest demonstration at Press Club Jammu demanding carry-on system for all under graduate course where semester system has been introduced by University Authorities last year.
The protest was held under the banner of Students' Coordination Committee (SCC) an amalgam of various student and social organizations.
It is pertinent to mention here that the representatives of various social and student organizations including Jammu Justice Secular Forum (JJSF), National Students Union of India (NSUI), National Panthers Students' Union (NPSU), National Conference Students' Union (NCSU), Progressive Youth Forum (PYF), Chenab Valley Students Union (CVSU), Poonch Rajouri Students Union (PRSU), JKPRM held a meeting at University of Jammu to chalk out a strategy to support the college students who are protesting for last one and half month demanding carry-on system for under graduate courses where semester system was introduced from last session.
Earlier today, the students from various colleges of Jammu province gathered at Press Club where they held a massive protest demonstration and raised slogans against Higher Education Minister and University Authorities.
Addressing the gathering, Vikram Singh, Member SCC said that the students are on the roads for last more than one and half month demanding carry-on system but the concerned authorities is playing dumb and deaf. He said that there are some under graduate courses run by JU where there is carry-on system but not for these students. He questioned that why there are different yardsticks.
Mahesh Bakshi, Member SCC, said that the Higher Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar and MoS for Higher Education, Priya Sethi are very well aware of fact that the students are on roads since long demanding carry-on system and in fact memorandums also have been submitted to them but unfortunately they are preferring to keep their mouth and eyes shut.
