JAMMU, Aug 23 : RM Public School shall soon have a Sport Climbing Wall at its campus at Chowadhi in Sainik Colony area of the city, here to encourage the game in the state. A commitment in this regard was made by the chairman of the RM Charitable and Educational Society, Rameshwar Mengi with the visiting team from Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) here. As and when constructed, it will be third of its kind sports facility at an educational institution in the state. "We have principally agreed with the Chairman, IMF North Zone Committee, S Bhattacharjee to develop the sports facility (a standard size sport climbing wall) at our institution to facilitate the budding talent in their endeavour to excel in the game," Rameshwar Mengi said. He further said that in view of lack of infrastructure of the game in the state, the institution shall have no problem in allowing the outside talented youngsters to practice on the facility. Earlier, the institution was approached by general secretary of the IMF North Zone Committee, Ram Khajuria, who happens to be the secretary of the J&K Mountaineering Association. "Since the Association hardly gets support with regard to infrastructure from the State Government, we have shifted our focus to those resourceful educational institutions to raise the needed infrastructure in the shape of small, medium and national standard climbing walls for practice and competition," explained Ram Khajuria. The chairman of IMF North Zone Committee, Bhattacharjee, who has been deputed with the task to visit states looking into the possibilities to build needed infrastructure, visited different placed during his two-day visit in the Winter Capital of the state. "We have received encouraging response from a couple of educational institutions, who have agreed to help raise the infrastructure. My sincere thanks to the managements of these institutions, who have shown interest in the game," said Bhattarcharjee. |
