Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 23: How much time is required to study a report on a highly sensitive issue submitted by a commission to the state Govt ? The question has assumed far greater significance with regard to the final report of Justice (retd) RC Gandhi commission on Kishtwar riots.
It was during the maiden session of the state Assembly in March 2015 that two senior ministers of PDP had made a categorical statement on the floor of the House stating clearly that the copy of the Justice (Retd) RC Gandhi commission has been submitted to the State Govt and the same was being studied by the law department before taking it up for necessary action.
Five months later, the State Govt has neither made public the findings of the final report of Justice Retd RC Gandhi nor has it initiated action against those found responsible for dereliction of their duties during the riots.
Delay on the part of the alliance govt headed by Mufti Mohd Sayeed has raised question marks on its policies as poor victims continue to suffer as culprits who wreaked havoc in their lives by killing their loved ones and targeting their shops and business establishments remain unharmed.
Despite lot of hulla baloo even the ruling alliance is keeping quiet and appears disinclined towards bringing the facts to light and shame the people who had engineered riots on the occasion of EID in Kishtwar.
Though certain media reports had allegedly revealed the names of the politicians and senior state govt and police officers who were found responsible for not taking timely action but in the absence of any govt action against them several question marks have been raised over the real intentions of the state govt.
On 9th August, 2013 communal clashes had broken out after Eid prayers resulting in death of four people, injuries to over 80 people and burning down of a large number of houses and vehicles.
