Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 23: A team of Consumers Welfare Association (CWA) today met Chief Engineer Planning PDD, Somraj Sharma and Consultants for works under RAPDRP, G J Maniar and HLGupta regarding execution of RAPDRP works taken up presently in Jammu Province.
According to press release, the CWA members expressed their concern over carrying out the works of improvement of entire distribution system causing disruption of power supply for long hours in this summer season.
This is being done without discussing/informing the public about work schedule through media or their own staff.
Long hours power cut in this sweltering hot summer is causing great discomfort to public and loss of working hours to both Industrial and commercial consumers.
CWA is of opinion that detailed discussion and passing on the information to public about these works and the benefits and improvements in power supply after completion of these, difficulties faced by the public due to long frequent power cuts and the system adopted in execution of RAPDRP works should have been discussed in detail with public directly and through Media. CWA was informed by CE that In Jammu province 11-towns consisting of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur , Banihal, Bhaderwah, R.S.Pura , Reasi, Rajouri ,Poochh and Kishtwar have been taken up in 4-parts which involves execution of 300-Km, 33/11 KV new lines , 12-new, 33/11 KV-stations, improvement of 25-existing stations, 2600-Km new/replacement of existing LT lines etc.
On suggestion of CWA, Chief Engineer and Consultants assured that they will involve local people while executing their works and share the information on RAPDRP works with public through their staff and Media.
