Jammu, Aug 23: Rural Women Foundation (RWF) has demanded action against a man for allegedly harassing his wife. RWF president Sunita Sharma and chairperson Heena Jamwal raised the alleged issue of harassment of the woman at the hands of her husband in a press conference here today. Talking to media persons, Sunita, quoting victim Manju Bala (government school teacher), alleged that her husband Devinder Kumar had been harassing her since the time of their marriage in 2006. She alleged that after their marriage, the woman's husband started demanding money, gratuity and jewellery from her. Fed up of the alleged harassment, the victim lodged a complaint at Police Post, Sarwal, that between 2007 and 2015, Devinder allegedly subjected her to cruelty in order to compel her to meet their unlawful demand for money. The woman, a mother of one kid, alleged that despite fulfilling the monetary demands of her husband on many occasions, she was beaten up by him in his greed for more. Unable to bear it, she lodged a police complaint against him. "My husband, who allegedly physically assaults me, also threatens me of dire consequences if his demands are not fulfilled," Manju alleged. |
