Inter-school competitions of Jammu district
SOS boys win U-14 hockey title

JAMMU, Aug 24 : Annual inter-school district level competitions of Jammu district got underway in the discipline of Hockey, Chess and Basketball at different venues here today under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS).
While Hockey tournament in all the age groups of under-14, under-17 and under-19 boys begun at K K Hakhu Stadium, other two events of Chess and Basketball started at MA Stadium, here
Earlier, the competition was declared open by district officer, Sukhdev Raj at K K Hakhu Stadium. Later, the venue was visited by Joint Director, DYSS, Madan Lal and Assistant Director, Rupinder Kour .
The Detailed Results:
HOCKEY: The under-14 boys' hockey title went to SOS School, who beat Army Public School (APS) Miran Sahib by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Zorawar Singh. Earlier, in a preliminary round match, APS Miran Sahib beat New National Higher Secondary School, Miran Sahib again 1-0. Gagandeep Singh was scorer. UNDER-17: Government High School Simbal Camp beat New National HSS Miran Sahib 2-0. Manmeet Singh and Bharat were the scorers. UNDER-19: Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar beat J&K Police Public School, Miran Sahib 3-0. Tanishpreet, Kanwar Preet and Bavneet Singh scored one goal each. Matches were officiated by technical penal comprising
Jeet Singh, Harvinder Singh, Jagjit Singh, Mandeep Singh and Karanjeet Singh.
BASKETBALL: MHAC Nagbnbi beat APS Nagrota 24-11; KC Public beat Oriental Academy 9-4;
Jodhamal beat DPS 20-09; MIER beat SOS 9-6. Matches officiated by the technical penal including Vishal Bharti, Vaneet, Rajesh Bandral, Amit Kalsi and Mousmi Verma.
CHESS: Shivinder of KC Public School, Ist; Aditya Bharat of APS Miran Sahib, 2nd; Varinder Chib of KC Public School, 3rd; Navdeep Singh of DPS Jammu, 4th and Lovejot Singh of APS Miran Sahib, 5th. Raman Sharma, Ravinder Singh and Nitin Sethi were officials.
