NC-Punjab Govt discriminated in compensation /employment to 'RSD affected'

Kathua, Aug.24: National Conference government and Shromani Akali Dal (SAD) government in Punjab made biased policy and adopted a pick and chose policy for employment and compensation to those whose lands were acquired by Ranjit Sagar Dam (RSD) authority in 1993.
Alleging of neglect by both state government and Ranjit Sagar Dam (RSD) authorities, Dam affected people today expressed their resentment and blocked Basholi road amid slogans against RSD authorities and the then NC government.
The protesters were demanding compensation for acquisition of land by Ranjit Sagar Dam authority and one time job for deserving candidates.
While addressing the protesters, Goldy, one of the affected Youth, said their fertile land was acquired by Ranjit Sagar Dam authority and ensured to compensate duly besides employment to each affected family but nothing has been done in this regard for the upliftment of affected as per agreement signed since 1993. He said affected families have submitted revenue documents of the land in 1986 but only few could get compensation and job in 1986 while the rest of the farmers virtually were neglected by both J&K and Punjab government till date.
Ved Parkash, a senior citizens said affected families appealed to High Court of Punjab to seek directions to Punjab government so as to provide employment of all those farmers whose lands have been acquired by Dam authority but nothing has been done till day.
He also recalled that matter has been highlighted before district administration repeatedly but the DDC Kathua had refused to intervene the matter as the matter is beyond his his approach. The protesters sought Rs 1.5 lakh per kannal as compensation given to people whose lands were acquired by University Campus in Badharwah and Rajouri. Soon after the news about protest reached to Tehildhar Mahanpur he rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesters but failed to do so. He said state government/ Collector Ranjit Sagar Dam must redress their demands and provide employment besides due compensation.
