Edu Minister seeks merger of Rajouri middle schools with HS Institutions

Rajouri, Nov 21: Responding to complaints and protests by the parents for acute shortage of teachers in the government schools in far-off areas in Rajouri district, Education Minister has directed the Chief Education Officer concerned to merge middle schools with the nearest Higher Secondary schools.
Pertinently, during ensuing academic session Education Department has already merged primary schools having enrolment below 20 students with the nearest middle schools.
"Most of the teachers having political back and on monetary considerations have adjusted themselves in those primary, middle schools that were near to their homes," said a teacher. This week Naeem Akhter, Education Minister, was in Rajouri to chair the District Development Board (DDB) meeting. He paid surprise visits to many schools in Rajouri, Manjakot, Thanamandi, Noushera, Manjakotetc Education Zones and found many irregularities including very poor academic standard, surplus teachers, misappropriation of funds etc.
He was also apprised by the prominent citizens and parents of the students about diminishing standard of education in the government schools and casual approach of the teachers. As the Minister found the academic standard below average, he directed the Chief Education Officer to merge those middle schools , which are situated in the same complex or in the vicinity of HSS) ,with the nearest higher secondary schools with immediate effect.
Minister also directed the CEO to send the teachers of these middle schools to those schools which have not required strength of teachers.
"We have identified 26 such middle schools in the districts and these schools as per the directions of Education Minister have been merged with the nearest higher secondary schools and Principals were also directed to take immediate control of middle schools under their jurisdictions" said CH Altaf Hussain CEO.
Pertinently, the High Court had stayed the teacher's list for Rajouri district released in 2012 and since then the Rajouri education department has been facing acute shortage of teachers in the schools in far-off areas.
Those schools which have been identified for merger with nearest HSSs are Ghambir Muglan, Dehri Rehllyot, Kakora, Thanamndi, Fatehpur, Darhal, Dhandkot, Chingus, Sasalkot, Peerri (primary school), Samote, Budhal, Kandi, Nowshera, Sunderbani, Solki, Dhangri, Moughla, Triyath, Seri, Khawas, Bajabain Kalsian, Bhawani, Lamberi & Sialsui. Chief Education Officer vide his office circular have also directed all the concerned Zonal Education Officers to pep are the lists of sanctioned staff at these middle schools and send it to his office along with proposal of adjusting these teachers in other schools running short of teachers.
