Administrative failure leaves over 10 lakh deprived
Tender of Aadhaar Card project expires

Jammu, Apr 3 : While as the Government pushes people to provide Adhaar card for essential services, the incapability of administration has deprived over 10 lakh people of this all important document, as the scheduled tender of the project ended on March 31, this year.
According to official data, not a single district managed to achieve the target of widespread coverage, despite intervention of the Governor. The time period for the executive agency viz Comtech Info Solutions expires on March 31, while as administrative failure not only gave smooth end to the tendered company, but also kept major portion of the population deprived. Director Census, Chander Shekhar Saproo said that they have received information in this regard and the Electronic Corporation of India is mulling extension so as to cover the entire population. Meanwhile, to expedite the work, government installed 322 aadhaar centre across the state and 650 employees were absorbed by the company to finish the work in time.
Willing to carry out the work, company officials stated that they wanted to cover the whole population of the state, but due to administrative apathy, they could not extend the tender.
The district wise population enrolled till date is: Leh 83,029 (62 %), Kargil 94,600(67%), Srinagar 656,303 (53%), Ganderbal 208,393 (70%), Baramulla 731,321(73%), Kupwara 526,850 (61%), Bandipore 267,519 (68%), Kulgam 357,465(84%), Budgam 588,250 (78%), Poonch 318,551 (67%), Rajouri 419,285 (65%), Pulwama 408,262 (73%), Shopian 225,310 (85%), Anantnag 692,829 (64%), Reasi 240,384 (76%), Kishtwar 184,862 (80%), Ramban 228,811 (81%), Doda 325,913 (80%), Udhampur 458,935 (83%), Kathua 466,582 (76%), Jammu 11,64,187 (76%) and Samba 278,468 (87%).
The district wise number of Aadhaar cards issued are: Leh 82,267, Kargil 92,832, Srinagar 4,46,646, Ganderbal 1,80,893 , Baramulla 598,513 , Kupwara 4,83,806, Bandipore 2,38,022, Kulgam 3,46,295 , Budgam 4,48,724, Poonch 2,56,540, Rajouri 325,809, Pulwama 344,686, Shopian 182,453 Anantnag 623,431 Reasi 2,25,779, Kishtwar 1,38,824, Ramban 2,03,617 Doda 2,70,435, Udhampur 354,127 Kathua 4,26,943, Jammu 10,89,184 and Samba 2,46,195.
