| Need for reducing ingress level to zero in Kashmir | | | Wise after the events. This is what the security agencies
have started doing it in the Kashmir valley where the situation is expected to assume quite a grim scene if the security grid was not further tightened.As part of the plan to secure security convoys against militant attacks even the CREPF have been asked to fit armour plates on all its vehicles that are to be engaged for carrying jawans from one place to the other.The Army had already done and the BSF followed suit after three of their soldiers were killed in an attack on the convoy on the highway.After the Pampore incident in which eight CRPF personnel lost their lives and 22 others were injured the CRPF have been asked to fit all its vehicles with armour plates which could act as a defence against militant armed attack.In addition to this nearly 60 militants,battle hardened,are said to have sneaked into the Kashmir valley during the last 15 to 20 days and it has kept the Army and other security agencies on the toes.Reports said that the task assigned to these fresh infiltrators was to derail peace by attacking security convoys and camps.It is in this connection that all camps of security agencies including the Army have been placed under heavy security cover to prevent militants from carrying out any armed attack.
In this connection paramilitary forces,police and the Army have been told to carry out joint operations against these infiltrators in the border villages as intelligence inputs say that majority of these infiltrators have carved out hideouts in various border villages in Kupwara sector.They were in search of an opportunity for travelling to the towns and cities.What seems to have sustained militants and encouraging young boys to join militant outfits is the flow of hawala money part of which was being given to these militants as rewards.Hence the Union Home Ministry has asked the state agencies and security forces, deployed in Jammu and Kahsmir,to launch a tirade against the hawala money rackets. Security experts believe that once militant leaders were starved of money they may not be able to go in for fresh recruitment of boys in their organizations. During the last three to four years more than 36 lakh rupees have been recovered from those running the hawala racket.In addition to this lot of gold ornaments and US dollars were recovered from them.Had not this amount been seized the money would have fallen in the hands of militants.
In the meantime troops,guarding the LOC,have been asked to plug porous spots on the border which militants use for infiltrating into Kashmir.They have been told to carry out immediate repair of the border fence which,at places,has been snapped by the infiltrators.Try all methods for bringing the ingress level to zero which could prove key to peace in Kashmir.Now that Pakistan stands almost isolated with all the wstern countries opposed to it for exporting terror to India,it may kick up trouble in Kashmir which would help the Pak agencies and the establishment in highlighting the Kashmir issue.Once Kashmir becomes incident free Pakistan may have no excuse for raising the Kashmir issue in the international fora. Hence troops and security agencies have been asked to tighten the security bandobast in the valley. |
