Srinagar records hottest day of the season so far at 34.4 degree

Srinagar, June 30: There was still no respite from hot weather condition in Srinagar which recorded the hottest day of the season after mercury surged and settled at 34.4 degree, more than three degree above normal.
However, the weather is expected turn pleasant from Saturday as weatherman has predicted isolated rain in the state till July 6.
A Met department spokesperson here this evening said that light rain and thunder showers would occur at isolated place in Jammu region and Kashmir valley during the next 24 hours.
The summer capital recorded the hottest day of the season so far today after the mercury further surged and settled at 34.4 degrees, against 33.2 degrees recorded yesterday. However, there was some respite from the hot weather condition in the evening due to clouds and cool breeze. The minimum temperature was also about three notches above normal in the city, he said, adding there skies will be partly cloudy during the next 24 hours in Srinagar when the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 33 degrees and 18 degrees respectively.
World famous health resort of Pahalgam, where the annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will commence from July 2, also recorded considerable surge in the mercury. Against 28.5 degree maximum temperature yesterday, it was 30.3 degree, around five notches above normal.
The minimum temperature recorded in Pahalgam was 13.1 degree, around four notches above normal.
The day temperature recorded in famed ski resort of Gulmarg was 23.6 degrees, while the minimum temperature was 14 degree, three notches above normal.
