JAMMU, Aug 29: Now-a-days, BJP Health Minster, Bali Bhagat patting its back by inaugurating spree of health buildings, but already under construction buildings of rural Jammu under National Health Mission (NHM), inaugurated by its predecessors during previous regime, facing acute shortage of funds, the best reasons known to him.
Source in department said that in month of August of financial year 2011-12, previous government ministers, Sham Lal and R S Chib inaugurated 50 bedded Block of worth Rs nearly 17 Crores at Sub District Hospital, R S Pura and announced that it would be completed within two yearsfrom the commencement of the date. "But ironically after lapse of five years, the 50 bedded hospital building still craving for government attention and minster concerned rather than releasing funds to undergoing construction, seems busy to inaugurate new buildings", source added.
A doctor deputed in RS Pura Hospital said that out of Rs 17 Crores, Rs 14.38 Crores funds had sanctioned for the newly construction of 50 bedded Block and remaining funds sanctioned for renovation of existing building wherein hospital was running.
"But owing to apathetic attitude of either Director of National Health Mission or Coalition government toward rural populations, the 50% funds is still not released by the Mission, resulting, neither the new building is completed so far nor the existing building of hospital get renovation", said doctor wishing anonymity.
"However, concerned MLA time and again pressurized to us, for early completion of the building, it is good approach. But when I requested to him, you're in government and send a communiqué to NHM, Director for early release of remaining funds, he never did for this", said an employee of Housing Board, which carried out construction of the building.
When contacted to Director Health Mission, Mohan Singh said that there was no shortage of funds but he was unaware why funds were being not released to executive agency.
